Momma Shay’s Kitchen, located southeast of Atlanta and northeast of Macon, in Milledgeville, Georgia, is a prime example of an entity born out of forced life-changes. For ones like us, who enjoy soul food and seafood created from hands and a heart of love, we are thankful for those changes.

Sommer Cooper may not have preferred to go through those challenges, but her restaurant is proof that change often creates a better thing. Thanks to Catherine Dean, journalist with the Union-Recorder, we all now know Sommer’s (Momma Shay) story and can take advantage of the wonderful home cooking she provides on a daily basis. It’s a broad mix of down-home goodness from multiple influences, due to the worldwide travel she experienced in a military family.

Read the story here, and plan a visit to Momma Shay’s soon.

Enjoy!
